Day 2 - Lake Jasper
Friday, 28th Febraury 2014
After a night listening to our noisy neighbours AKA Possums we woke up to our other “friends” the dreaded march fly… Anyway we had breaky and then set off for an early morning walk down to Barrabup Pool. It was lovely, crystal clear with a small jetty and some steps leading down into the pool.
Walk finished we hit the road again, next stop Lake Jasper.
The road into Lake Jasper was easy going at first but then we hit the bumpy sand. We stopped to let the tyre pressures down while running the guantlett of more march flies – grrr and continue on. We arrive to find that the campground only 3 spots and no one else there, we’ve got our choice of spot and pick waht we think is the best one. Guess what? no march flies – yay! We grab some lunch, have a rest and then head off for a dip in Lake Jasper. Ahh that was refreshing.
Back at camp a bungarra walks past out site and the local rangers drop by, they’re expecting it to get busy over the weekend. After they leave we notice march flies and once again the mad swatting starts while we set up our tent and read before making tea. Sunset at Lake Jasper was lovely. The only other wildllife we saw was a frog when we visited the toilets around 8.00pm. He was lovely, green with black stripes, but as is often the case, no camera! And now no march flies- peace 🙂
