Day 4 Blaze Tree to Coolgardie

Tuesday, 16th September 2014

After another very very windy night which shook the tent all night long …. and was still blowing when we got up making it very cold – brrrr, we decided to chuck everything in the car ( unpacked and untidy 🙁 🙁 ) and hit the road. We’ll have breaky on the go. Today we plan to camp at Thursday Rock.

First stop today was Krakour Rock and then Agnes Gnamma Hole. By 9.45am we’d done 48kms, confirming the track is easier up the north eastern end. Although our destination today was Thursday Rock at this rate we’ll be in Coolgardie just after lunch.

All along the track there are sections where if your windows are down you can pick the leaves, the bushes are that close. Way too close to get photos so we got some photos when the bushes receded a little. Wildflowers were still in abundance.

We call in at Thursday Rock, it’s a nice spot for a BBQ. We have a couple more spots to check out – Pigeon Hole & Victoria Rock – before hitting the Victoria Rock Road (gravel). Victoria Rock ( previously known as Queen Victoria Rock ) looks like a place to camp, maybe next time; we are nearing the end of the track so decide to continue straight through to Coolgardie.

We check in to the Gold Rush Motels in Coolgardie, unpack and repack the car, dispose of our rubbish carried since hitting the track ( 4 bags ). Went for a walk around town, seems quieter than we recall from the past, grab some supplies, and yes we got googs 🙂 and headed back to our room for a cuppa before heading out for tea.

Wow! the restaurant at the motel was lovely, had an extensive menu and we both enjoyed our meals. The service was great, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere, definietly recommend it.
