Day 3 Mt Holland to Blaze Tree
Monday, 15th September 2014
Today we woke to find a spider has slept with us presumably to keep out of last night’s wind. We’re getting quicker at breaking camp, shaved 10 mins off our time 🙂 Our destination is Blaze Tree camp.
- Holland Track D3 – Mt Holland to Blaze Tree
The drive up Mt Holland wasn’t too bad; coming down was a little bit worse. Check for other traffic as the track to the top is single lane and not a lot of room when you get there.
- Going up Mt Holland
Holland Track was a mix of pot holes, puddles and sand. We stopped for a cuppa at Sandalwood Rocks. NB:The area is now barren of sandalwood trees thanks to over logging. It is native to WA and was our largest primary export in high demand for it’s aromatic wood.
- A dry bog hole, Holland Track
- Burnt countryside along the Holland Track
- Along the Holland Track
We crossed the State Barrier Fence again at the north eastern end and found it just stops. Apparently government funding ran out, now you have ask yourself the logic in not completing it. We’re pretty sure rabbits, emus and wild dogs can work out if they take a few more steps they’ll get through 😛
- End of the State Barrier Fence
Along the way to camp we saw more wildflowers and a Thorny Devil.
- Local wildflowers
- Thorny Devil
Camp set up, tea eaten and it was time to settle back and enjoy the sunset – another perfect day comes to an end.
- Another perfect day ends, Blaze Tree, Holland Track
